Who would not want to have a free subscription for blogs?? I’m generous so I’m actually sharing what I’ve found. It’s an online contest with a jaw dropping prizes.. I may be exaggerating but it really is jaw dropping for an ordinary blogger like me. After all it’s “FREE!
It’s glad to be back and blogging again. It has been months since I last wrote a review of the movies that I watched. Now it’s time to get back to the business.
Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen is indeed one of the most awaited movies of 2009. Ever since the last Transformers movie, it sequel has already been buzzing around the movie goer’s mind. I bet everybody has a background of what transformers
Story wise, I have observed some lapses in the Revenge of the Fallen, I bet some movie reviews have pointed these out to.
Firstly, how come there are only two pieces of energy source remained out the gigantic energy source cube in the first movie?
Secondly, if Megatron was revived by the other piece of the energy source why can’t it be done with Optimus? Instead they used it to revive a decepticon yet helped them to find answers about the fallen and on how to revive Optimus which is odd because he is a decepticon and he is “old”. Do robots get old?
Thirdly, how come people from other places don’t know that decepticons and autobots exist where in fact, a huge fight happened in the middle of the city in Los Angeles two years ago?
Fourth, how were they transported to Egypt which is miles away from where they are when they revived that old decepticon?
Fifth, how come bumble bee didn’t noticed that the girl what a decpticon? Instead he just threw it away and not do other things to warn Sam.
Sixth, why didn’t the primes destroyed that evil decepticon where they can do it anyway? Instead they just ceased it using a certain energy sphere (or I don’t know how it should be termed).
Seventh, is that Sam loses his consciousness and went to a heaven-like place and talked to the legendary primes. It’s the first time I saw a movie with a robot heaven. And also, Optimus Prime is a descendant of the primes? How come? Do robots have children?
Lastly, if it took three primes to defeat that evil decepticon, how c0me Optimus beat the two powerful enemies just using the scraps of an old decepticon?
Actually, these are all observations. I you were to ask my judgement, I still find this movie superb. Why? Simply because it is entertaining. It has great graphics, it was action packed, and most specially, it got the attention of the masses which made it obviously chart topping.
After hearing a lot of feedbacks about the most talked Slamdog Millionaire, I finally had time to site and see for myself why the movie got plenty of awards – Best Motion Picture, Drama, Best Director, Best Screenplay and Best Original Score (these are only few) in the recently concluded 2009 Golden Globe Awards. Now, does the movie deserve all of these? My answer is a thousand YES!
Slamdog Millionaire is a story depicts the life of an 18-year old orphan boy who once lived on the slams of India. Jamal Malik, who worked as an errand boy to a call center industry got the chance to play to a multi-million game show – the Who Wants to be a Millionaire. Jamal luckily answered the questions and finally went through the game. Before reaching the 20-Million rupee question, Jamal was arrested and was placed to an interrogation because the host accused him cheating. Jamal then told the police why he was able to answer the question even though he was uneducated. He tells his story and his personal experiences on his being slum, about his brother, and his beloved Latika in every question.
What makes this story great? I must say that this is one of the most realistic movies I saw. Watching it is just like hearing an orphan telling about his hardships and struggles on the streets. The violence, the emotions, the realms of a third world country, and the beauty of love regardless of any situation was nicely presented on the movie. It also showed the kind of life the slams of India has – the children, the women, and the heartless adults. The nicest thing that I like about the movie is the light after dark part. That something good is possible when you just don’t lose hope.
The cast? They’re great! The innocent look and the sad eyes of Dev Patel are perfect for Jamal’s character. Frieda Pinto is really pretty, just the perfect flower on the movie. The rest of the characters are well-suited. This movie’s characters must be the well selected Indian actors.
My verdict… The movie is definitely great! I just don’t like the last part. I think that dancing is no longer necessary. I guess its just part of Indian movie tradition. J
I am really clueless about what WATCHMEN all about. I’m not even aware that it’s an adaptation of they say “famous” comic series. I really don’t have an idea about the movie. All that I remembered why I was interested to watch the movie was its trailer. I find it interesting because of its graphic effects. I did a bit of research about the movie and even searched of the rating at IMDB and it was convincing, it rated 8.5 of 10. My friend who’s also a movie buff confirmed me that it was nice as she has a bit background of the comic series and she agreed it has a nice effects. (She hasn’t seen the movie too and was just also amazed by the trailer).
WATCHMEN is a story about the series death of super heroes that exist during the war between the United Stated and Soviet Union. The apex of the situation started during the death of Edward Blake (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) known as the comedian. Walter Kovacs (Jackie Earle Haley) known as Rorschach felt the urgency of investigating the case and warned his former comrades Dan Dreiberg (Patrick Wilson), formerly the second Nite Owl, the super powered and emotionally detached Dr. Jon Osterman (Billy Crudup) known as Doctor Manhattan and his lover Laurie Jupiter , the second Silk Spectre. To cut the story short, it appears the person behind the killings of the masked super heroes is Adrian Veidt (Mathew Goode) known as Ozymandias, a former superhero turned into a successful businessman. Manhattan worked for Ozymandias to develop a device that can provide energy to the earth. But it turned out that Ozymandias just used Manhattan’s power to create a massive destruction enable to re-direct the focus of Soviet Union and US that leads to the end of war and unity against the powerful Dr. Manhattan.
The verdict, I find the movie “boring” and I tagged it as the 2nd “Beneath Lockness” , one of the worst movie I’ve seen. I think the story is nice because there really is a value and the acting of the characters was acceptable. However, the style of how the movie was made is awful. I don’t know it’s just because I have no idea of the comic series or the movie really sucks. First, the opening credits took almost 10 minutes. Seeing the boring and to long credit already made me sleepy and wondering if I could still a refund. Second the sequence of events is so confusing. For fresh viewer like me who have no background about the story, the movie will just leave confusions and disappointment. The movie didn’t even have the scene why and how they became heroes. Plus, it’s my first time to see a super hero who killed a girl whom he got impregnated. Words are not enough how disappointed I was. For a movie that got a good rating and plenty of viewers falling in line, at least it should have made me say, “Acceptable”.
Because of WATCHMEN, I was able to conclude things; 1. Never trust the graphics alone, 2. Don’t watch a movie if you’re not familiar with the character and for a movie that you’ve never heard before, and 3. Never trust IMDB.
Push is a story of extra ordinary individuals who grouped together to save themselves from the capture of a secret government organization. This organization namely “Division” captures people with powers to make them weapons for war. The Division rounds up psychic experiments on them to boost up their powers and to assemble the most powerful commanding army in the world. Unluckily, no one has ever survived these tests except “Kira” (played by Camella Belle), a “pusher”. Pushers have the most dangerous psychic powers: the ability to control other’s minds and actions.
On the other hand, Nick Gant (played by Chris Evans) is a second generation “mover”, people with power to move things. He has been hiding from Division since his father was murdered more than a decade ago. He lived a normal life in a closely populated place in Hong Kong until Cassie (played by Dakota Fanning), a 13-year old “watcher” came. The young watcher seeks his help to find a briefcase that has $6 million in it. Cassie also told Nick that she envisioned that they should find Kira to help to join them.
Generally, the movie was great. I actually didn’t have an idea what it is all about. A friend told me that Push is a good movie and so I viewed its trailer in the internet. I liked what I saw in the so since its Friday, I asked my cousin to watch movie with me. Push is for all ages. Though the story is very much common, the overall film is nice. You won’t feel bored to any part of it. At the end of the movie you’re sure wish that you have the same powers with them. The effects are good too.
As expected, Dakota Fanning did well. She’s really cute, especially that her role was a young watcher who acts like a complete grown up. Chris Evans was as gorgeous as he is on his “Cellular” movie. Camella Belle is very beautiful and the character suits her well. I really enjoyed Push. I think there will be a sequel of this movie because there are some things that are not resolved yet. I recommend Push to everybody and I am looking forward for the PUSH II.
Inkheart is a fantasy movie based from the first book of book of the Inkheart trilogy novel written by Cornelia Funk.
Inkheart is about a 12-year old girl named Meggie Folchart who has been curious about the disappearance of her mother when she was still a child. Her life changes in an instant when she realizes that her father Mortimer or Mo, a bookbinder has a unique ability; every time he reads a book aloud, he can bring the characters into the real world, but it brings a person from the real world to the book as an exchange. When Meggie and her father went to a city, a stranger approached her and learned that the stranger whose name is Dustfinger is acquainted with her father. Mo, that time, was on denial about what had happened to his wife and dragged Meggie away. They went to her mother’s aunt, Elinor. But Dustfinger managed to follow them and confronted Mo about the book, the Inkheart. A group of strangers appeared and captured Meggie, Mo, Dustfinger and Elinor. Meggie learns that all of them will be brought to a mysterious man named Capricorn.
Capricorn is also a character in a book that was brought to the real world. He fancied the real world and didn’t want to go back in the book again. He built his castle and seeks for Mo whom he referred to as “Silver-tongued”. He used Mo to read portions in the book that will bring him wealth. Mo, Meggie, and Elinor were imprisoned while Dustfinger discovered that Mo’s wife was no longer in the book and was held as a servant in the castle’s kitchen. Dustfinger made an exchanged promise with Mo that he would help him find his wife in return that he will read him back in the book. They escaped in the castle and searched for the original writer of the Inkheart hoping that they would find a last copy of the book as Capricorn burned theirs. Mo and Dustfinger went back to castle to rescue his wife. Meggie on the other hand was entrusted to the author. By then, she discovered that she inherited the gift of his father; she also is a Silver-tongue. In search for Mo and Dustfinger, Meggie was brought back to the castle in exchange. Actually, the story is really for children. Even of not finishing it, viewers will immediately understand how will they be able to solve do their adventures. The first part is really boring and will leave you clueless. They didn’t even present the origin of the Silver-tongues. Good thing the latter part of the movie was a bit nice. Especially the effects, it was well done and the girl who played Meggie is very pretty.
This bleach movie is really awesome! My favorite character in Bleach series Tōshirō Hitsugaya is featured on this movie. Right upon seeing the young captain of the 10th Squad, I immediately fell by the character. Not only is he powerful but also genius and protective. He is strict yet fully dedicated to keep his childhood friend Hunamori away from harm with his promised of killing anybody that would hurt her. Aside from Ichigo of course, Toshiro showed a very promising lead to this movie.
The Diamond Dust Rebellion movie is all about a very special artifact called the “King’s Seal” was stolen from the Soul Society. During the transport, an unidentified Soul Reaper along with his two comrades who controls fire and lightning attacked and stole the artifact. The Captain of the 10th Squad, Toshiro Hitsugaya who was assigned to take guard the transport immediately responded to the incident and cornered the culprit. However, he was stubbed at the stomach and the seemed to be a soul reaper criminal ran away. Hitsugaya chased after him and leaves his squad behind. Because of his action, Seireitei suspects Hitsugaya for treason and ordered for his capture while putting his entire squad on house arrest.
While the Soul Society searched for Hitsugaya, Ichigo ran across with Soifon and learned about what happened from her. Right upon Siofon’s disappearance, Toshiro showed up and passed out. Ichigo brought Toshiro in his house and let him rest. He even told Toshiro to stay while waiting for Inoue to heal him in the morning. Toshiro refused to tell Ichigo about his plans and continued to pursue searching the culprit.
On the other hand, Rukia and Renjie seek for some information about the enemy. Rukia relayed the culprit’s identity to Ichigo. The sould reaper who stole the artifact was Kusaka Sojiro, Toshiro’s friend who was killed from defeating the battle against him. Kusaka and Toshiro we’re formerly asked to battle each other because they have acquired the same power which is a taboo in the Soul Society. Toshiro refused at first but left with no choice with Kusaka started to attack. Toshiro injured Kusaka and the Soul Society executed Kusaka even if the fight wasn’t over yet.
Upon hearing the story, Ichigo realizes what Toshiro was thinking and decided to seek for him before the army from the Soul Society who was ordered to execute Toshiro find him first. But Toshiro found Kusaka first. Toshiro then learned that Kusaka was revived by turning himself into a hallow and stole the King Seal, which he used to revive himself. Using the King’s Seal, Kusaka transported Toshiro to the Soul society and breaks the King Seal using his bankai. This gives him enormous power that placed the entire soul society into great crisis. The entire army of the Soul Society fought the powerful Kusaka. With the help of Ichigo, Kusaka was defeated and returned into his real form. He and Toshiro had their clash once again. Kusaka was defeated by Toshiro and realized that he was indeed not worthy of the same power Hyorinmaru. Toshiro returned the King’s Seal and was cleared of all his charges. Toshiro Hitsugaya then placed his past to rest.
It has been a while since a friend gave me a copy of this movie. I was just interested bout it because I saw the music video and I liked it.
Camp Rock is a Disney musical starring Demi Lovato and the Jonas Brothers. On a personal point of view, this movie is the worst musical I’ve seen from Disney. Compared to the famous High School Musical, Camp Rock is way too behind. I really don’t know what happened to Disney’s standards on musical plays.
Camp Rock is definitely a no special musical. The story is very typical, there goes a girl who has a dream and wanted to belong. So she lied about her real identity to befriend with the famous. Even at the start of the movie you can already tell what’s going to be next and so on. Plus the musical sucks. The teens have talents maybe, but the choreography is very awful. You won’t even appreciate any musical scene. As if you we’re just seeing a group of high school students practicing for their P.E. presentation.
Demi Lovato who played the role Mitchie Torres is a talented high school girl who wished to go to a summer camp where young singers, dancers, and musicians gather to workshop and showcase their talents. Thanks to her Mom, Mitchie was accepted as a participant for the summer camp named Camp Rock. Her mother was chosen to be the official cook of the camp and with that, Mitchie’s tuition fee is discounted. Mitchie helped her mom and at the same time participated with the workshop. There she met Caitlyn Geller played by Allyson Stoner, an aspiring musician and record producer. Mitchie and Allyson get along well until the group of Tess Styler, played by Meaghan Jette Martin came to the picture. Tess is a daughter of a famous actress and with so came in as the queen of the camp. Tess wanted to be always on the limelight so she eliminates anybody that threatens her fame. Mitchie was astonished on Tess’ presence so to be accepted by them, she pretended to be a daughter of a China based company president.
On the other hand, Shane Gray, played by Joe Jonas is a spoiled member of a famous rock band was thrown by his fellow members (Nick and Kevin Jonas), to the Camp Rock to be one of the Trainers and soon do a duet with one of the campers. Shane heard Mitchie sing but do not actually know that the one singing is Mitchie. Shane liked the voice and wanted to have a duet with her but the voice’s owner remained hidden. When Mitchie started to get famous because of her talent, Tess ruined her reputation by revealing that Mitchie was lying about her identity. Shane who started to like Mitchie was turned off and accused her that all she befriended was his fame. Tess was not contended and made an issue about her missing bracelet which was found at the kitchen. And since Caitlyn was with Mitchie that time, both of them we’re grounded from the final camp show. The final camp will allow the winner to have a recording with Shane Gray.
But Mitchie and Caitlyn sneaked their way in and made a great show. Mitchie sang in front of the crowd with her own composition and was finally recognized by Shane as the voice he has been looking.
Kaze no Stigma is an anime series about a boy namely Kazuma Kannagi who is unable to use En-Jutsu, a hierarchical ability to use flames as a power. He was considered useless and was banished from his family by his father when he was defeated by Ayano Kannagi, one of his relatives and his rival to the successor ceremony for Enraiha, his family’s sacred sword. Kazuma went somewhere far from his family and met a girl namely Cui-Lin whom he fell in love with. By then, Kazuma forgot his goal of becoming powerful and wished to live a simple life with her. But fate forced him to regain his goal as Cui-Lin died from being an offer to summon demon. Kazuma blamed himself from failing to protect Cui-Lin, and once again sought for power.
Kazuma became a contractor; he made a contract with the Wind Spirit Lord. This made Kazuma extra powerful and was able to draw up all wind spirits around him. He can even heal himself using his wind power. After becoming a wind mage, Kazuma went back to his country to materialize his revenge but things didn’t turn out the same way as he reunited with his former rival Ayano and his younger brother Ren, the successor of their family. Soon, killings on Kannagi family occur and Kazuma was asked to discover the culprit behind the series of murders.
This anime series was referred to me by a friend. Right upon watching, I already like this series. I describe this anime as “no dull moments” since right from the start there’s already action. It even made me more interested because at the beginning of the movie, you would think that the main character Kazuma is misinterpreted as the major antagonist. But as you further watch the series, you will sure to appreciate Kazuma. He is a perfect example of a neglected son who has proven himself to be the most powerful kind throughout that history of their clan. I really recommend this series to all the anime lovers.
